Registering for a universal library card is fast and easy. First, you must understand that our library is part of the North Country Library System that spreads over four upstate NY counties to include, Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence and Oswego counties. Once you successfully obtain a universal library card, your name and other information is entered in our database and shared with any public automated library in the four-county area which in return allows you to borrow items from any of these libraries without applying for a new card every time.
Adults (18+) are to present photo I.D. and proof of current address, e.g. current driver's license, student ID, employment identification card, printed personal check, recent utility bill, car registration, etc. If a photo I.D. is not available then two other forms of ID will be accepted. If no proof of current address exists, the new card will be mailed to the patron.
Minors are to present one piece of identification with name and current address or be accompanied by a parent or guardian with proper identification.
